About Medic Translate
A communication aid for calls with patients who speak little or no German. Built from experience in emergency services, free and without an account.
“Are you in pain?” matters the same in every language. On a call there is rarely time to reach an interpreter.
In emergency services we meet people every day who speak little or no German. Pain, fear or shortness of breath make communication even harder, and professional interpreters are rarely available right away before the hospital.
Medic Translate makes the key questions of an emergency history available instantly: in large type, with audio, and in a way the patient can answer by tapping.
What the app does
- 12 languages
- English, Turkish, Arabic, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, Spanish, French, Italian, Romanian, Persian and Dutch.
- SAMPLER and conditions
- Basic history following SAMPLER plus questions for heart attack, stroke, shortness of breath, trauma, abdominal pain, diabetes, anaphylaxis, collapse and seizures, pregnancy, pediatrics, poisoning and drugs, mental health crises and infections – plus announcements such as blood pressure, ECG and IV access.
- Audio
- Every question is voiced in the target language, so people who can't read understand it too.
- Protocol
- Answers are recorded with the time and can be copied or printed for handover.
- Offline
- Installed as an app with saved audio, Medic Translate works without a connection.
Who it's for
- Paramedics and EMTs

Limits
- Medic Translate does not replace a professional interpreter or a medical assessment.
- The app is a communication aid, not software for medical decisions.
- Medical responsibility stays with the treating staff.
- Complex conversations, such as informed consent, need a qualified interpreter.
Privacy
- No accounts, no server data
- There is no sign-up, and no personal data is sent to our servers.
- No recordings
- The app only plays audio. The microphone is never used.
- The protocol stays on the device
- Settings and protocols are stored locally in the browser. Delete the protocol after handover.
